What we collect

When you submit an outage report we store the postal code, optional suburb name, report type (outage / restored), an optional short note and the time. To prevent spam we store a one-way hash derived from your IP address and browser; we do not store the raw IP address alongside reports.

Location

If you use “Use my location”, your browser shares approximate coordinates only to find the nearest postal code. Coordinates are not stored.

Phone numbers and email

If you add your phone number to a comment or subscribe to email alerts, we store it privately and use it only for outage updates for your area, with your consent. It is never shown on the website or sold. To have it deleted, contact us.

Your rights (POPIA)

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) you may ask to see, correct or delete personal information we hold about you. Update this section with your responsible party’s details and the Information Regulator contact once you go live.

Retention

Reports are automatically deleted after 180 days.
